    Auf Wunsch des byzantinischen Kaisers →Johannes II., der für seinen jüngsten Sohn →Manuel im Hinblick auf eine gemeinsame Politik gegen die Normannen eine Verwandte des deutschen Königs zur Gemahlin haben wollte, schickte →Konrad III. seine Schwägerin B. nach Byzanz. Als →Manuel 1143 Kaiser geworden war, vermittelte sie u. a. bei den Bündnisverhandlungen und den Heiratsplänen von →Konrads Sohn →Heinrich, der sich mit einer Nichte →Manuels verloben sollte, 1148 und 1150 zwischen den beiden Reichen. Von dem persönlichen Leben B.s zeugen u. a. Gedichte und eine erhaltene Grabrede.
