  • Biographical Presentation

    Major: Johannes Tobias M., geb. am 2. Febr. 1615 zu Jena, als Sohn des Professors der Theologie und Superintendenten Joh. M., promovirte am 11. Febr. 1634 zu Jena als Dr. phil., begab sich zur Fortsetzung seiner Studien nach Leipzig, wurde aber durch Joh. Gerhard bald zur Rückkehr nach Jena veranlaßt. In den Jahren 1637—40 machte er zu wissenschaftlichen Zwecken eine Reise durch Deutschland, England, Frankreich und Italien, promovirte Juli 1643 in Wittenberg als Lic. theol. und wurde dort 1645 außerordentlicher Professor. Nach dem Tode seines Vaters ward er als ordentlicher Professor der Theologie nach Jena berufen, starb hier aber schon am 25. April 1655 eines plötzlichen Todes. Schriften bei Zeumer, Vitae professorum th. Jenae 1711.
