    B. war seit 1847 Oberlehrer der Mathematik am Marienstiftgymnasium Stettin, 1866 Stadtschulrat ebenda. Er ist bekannt durch seine erste und für die nur arabisch erhaltenen Bücher 5-7 bisher einzige deutsche Bearbeitung der für die Entwicklung der modernen Mathematik (analytische und projektive Geometrie) grundlegenden Kegelschnittslehre des Apollonios, in der auch das von E. Halley wiederhergestellte 8. Buch aufgenommen wurde.
