  • Biographical Presentation

    Bary: Hendrik B., Kupferstecher, war wol nicht, wie man früher angab, zu Antwerpen, sondern in Holland und zwar um 1620—30 geboren. Er lernte bei Reinier van Persyn zu Amsterdam und ward durch die malerische Kraft und doch Weichheit seiner Behandlung in der Art Corn. Vischer's, einer der besten holländischen Stecher. Er stach vornehmlich Bildnisse, unter denen das Leo van Aitzema's (gest. nach J. de Baen, 1666) hervorzuheben ist; doch kommen auch Genrebilder (nach Terborch, Mieris, P. Aertsen, Brouwer u. A.) vor. Er war noch um 1672 thätig.
