  • Biographical Presentation

    B. war Projektierungsingenieur in der Maschinenfabrik Oerlikon (1885–87) und gründete dann mit Charles Eugene Lancelot Brown in Baden (Aargau) 1891 eine Fabrik elektrischer Maschinen (Brown, B. & Cie.). Er führte mit Brown jr. die erste große elektrische Kraftübertragung von Kriegsstetten nach Solothurn aus, erregte 1892 auf der elektrotechnischen Ausstellung in Frankfurt mit seinem von 2000 Glühbirnen erleuchteten Haus besonderes Aufsehen, führte 1916 die Elektrifizierung Frankfurts durch und wurde Dr.-Ing. e. h. der ETH Zürich. Später widmete er sich der Herstellung großer Wasserwerke und dem Ausbau des elektrischen Netzes.
