  • Biographical Presentation

    F. studierte bis 1890 Bauingenieurwissenschaften an der TH Berlin. Als Sektionsbaumeister der Stadt Charlottenburg und ab 1894 als Regierungsbaumeister war er in der Preußischen Wasserbauverwaltung Kassel und Münster mit Entwässerungsarbeiten sowie Meliorisations-, Fluß- und Brückenbauten beschäftigt. 1896 kam er als Assistent von G. Mehrtens an die TH Dresden und erhielt bereits im Oktober den Lehrauftrag für bewegliche Brücken. 1898 wurde er außerordentlicher, 1900 ordentlicher Professor. Seine Arbeitsgebiete waren hauptsächlich Eisenhochbau, Massivbau, Baustoffkunde, Festigkeitslehre. Seinen Ruf als Bauingenieur aber verdankt|er seinem Eintreten in Theorie und Praxis für den Eisenbetonbau, ein damals ganz neues Gebiet, über das er 1901 als erster an einer deutschen Hochschule ein Kolleg las.
