  • Biographical Presentation

    Nach dem Besuch der Berliner Gewerbe-Akademie und praktischer Tätigkeit in Bitterfeld und Schkeuditz baute B. 1872 seine erste Drahtseilförderbahn. 1874 gründete er mit Theodor Otto in Leipzig-Neuschönefeld eine Fabrik für Schwebebahnen, die 1876 Adolf B. firmierte und als Firma Adolf B. & Co. bedeutend vergrößert 1881 nach Leipzig-Gohlis verlegt wurde. 1875 führte B. seine Exzenter-Klemmkupplung für Drahtseilbahnen (zwischen Zugseil und Wagengehänge) ein, die sein Mitarbeiter Karl Streitzig mit der selbsttätigen Klemme „Automat“ (1896) verbesserte. Das Verdienst von B.s Söhnen ist die Durcharbeitung und Fortbildung der neuzeitlichen Elektrohängebahnen. B.sche Drahtseilbahnen laufen in aller Welt.
