    B. war seit 1879 Reichsgerichtsrat und Mitglied des 1. Strafsenats. Durch seine klare Herausarbeitung des Ursachenbegriffs (seit 1860) wurde er der Begründer der noch für die heutige Rechtsprechung gültigen strafrechtlichen Ursachenlehre, wonach ein Ereignis dann die Ursache eines strafrechtlichen Erfolges ist, wenn es nicht weggedacht werden kann, ohne daß der Erfolg entfällt (Bedingungs- oder Äquivalenztheorie).
