Biographical Presentation
Das Adelsgeschlecht kam im 15. Jahrhundert aus Kroatien nach Österreich (Freiherren 1588, Grafen 1637/38). Siegfried († 1555) erwarb sich Verdienste bei der Verteidigung Wiens gegen die Türken und war Rat der Hofkammer (siehe ADB 16). Viele der Familie dienten in der kaiserlichen Armee: →Johann Bartholomäus († 1587), General, →Siegfried (1572–1624), General in Ungarn (gegen Fürst Gabriel Bathory), Feldmarschall, →Adam (1651–1726), Feldmarschall, und die Generale →Karl (1730–1804) und →Maximilian (1761–1827, siehe ÖBL). →Otto Gottfried (1598–1664) war Direktor des innerösterreichischen Geheimeen Rats, →Sigismund (1676–1751) Erzbischof von Wien (siehe LThK).
