Biographical Presentation
Gorlaeus: Abraham G. (van Goorle), namhafter Numismatiker und Sammler von Alterthümern. Geboren zu Antwerpen im J. 1549, schlug er seinen Wohnsitz in Delft auf, wo er als Privatmann bis zu seinem am 15. April 1609 erfolgten Tode verblieb, ganz seinen Studien und Sammlungen lebend. Sein berühmtes Cabinet kam nach seinem Tode an Prinz Henry von Wales, Sohn König Jakobs I. von England. G. hinterließ zwei größere gelehrte Werke: „Dactyliotheca“, Norimbergae 1600 und Lugd. Bat. 1625, 2 Bde. 4°. „Thesaurus numismatum Romanorum aureorum, argenteorum et aereorum ad familias aeternae urbis spectantium usque ad Augusti obitum“. Lugd. Bat. 1608, Fol.
