Biographical Presentation
Gast: Michel de G., malte Landschaften, Ruinen etc. Er soll 1509 in Antwerpen geboren und 1564 gestorben sein. Gewiß ist nur, daß er in Antwerpen 1558 in die St. Lucasgilde aufgenommen ward. Man nimmt an, daß er Italien besucht habe, da verschiedene italienische Ansichten von ihm bekannt sind. G. war ein guter Zeichner; wir haben Zeichnungen mit seinem Monogramm; wogegen man keine Oelgemälde von ihm kennt. Wahrscheinlich sind deren auf den Namen Anderer übertragen worden, wie z. B. Landschaften des Lucas Gassel für Werke von Patenier gelten.
