Biographical Presentation
Florens, genannt der Schwarze, Bruder des Grafen Dietrich VI. (s. d.), ward von den Westfriesen und aufständischen Kenneme zum Haupte erkoren und kämpfte lange und blutig mit seinem Bruder, den er der Verkürzung seiner Apanage beschuldigte. Dann führte er eine längere Fehde gegen die Herren von Cuyck und von Arnsberg, in der er, wie man sagt, durch Meuchelmord fiel, zwischen 1130 und 31. Er stand in hoher Gunst bei Kaiser Lothar, dessen Vetter er war.
