Biographical Presentation
Polack: Johann Friedrich P., Jurist und Mathematiker, geboren am 25. November 1700 in Bernstadt (Oberlausitz), † am 22. April 1772 in Frankfurt a. d. O., woselbst er 1730—33 außerordentlicher Professor der Jurisprudenz, 1733—52 ordentlicher Professor der Mathematik, 1752—58 ordentlicher Professor der Rechte, endlich seit 1758 ordentlicher Professor der Ockonomie, Polizei- und Cameralwissenschaften war. P. hat sich hauptsächlich als Verfasser einer „Mathesis forensis“ bekannt gemacht, die 1743 in erster, 1770 in vierter Auflage erschien und durch die weite Verbreitung, welche sie genoß, für die Genügsamkeit ihres Leserkreises zeugt.
