Biographical Presentation
Pasor: Matthias P., reformirter Theolog, Sohn des vorgenannten, geb. zu Herborn am 12. April 1599, † zu Groningen am 28. Januar 1658. Seine Studien machte er in Herborn, Marburg und Heidelberg. An letztgenannter Universität war er kurze Zeit Professor der Mathesis, dann der orientalischen Sprachen und der Philosophie in Oxford, von wo er 1627 zum Professor der Theologie nach Groningen berufen wurde. Als seine Lebensaufgabe sah er es an, neben dem Lehramte, dem er sich mit Begeisterung widmete, seines Vaters Schriften zu verbessern und die noch nicht edirten herauszugeben. Er wollte nach seinem Geständnisse die Jugend durch seine Schriften nicht von der Lectüre besserer Werke abziehen, daher sah er von der Veröffentlichung jener ab.
