Biographical Presentation
Darbes: Joseph Friedrich August D., Porträtmaler, geb. in Hamburg 1747, gest. in Berlin 1810 als Professor und Mitglied der Akademie. Nach vielfachen Reisen ließ er sich 1773 in Petersburg und 1785 in Berlin nieder, wo er als Porträtmaler bald Ruf erlangte und u. a. mehrfach den König|und die Königin malte. Seine Oelgemälde, Pastellbilder und Miniaturen auf Pergament waren ihrer Zeit gleichmäßig geschätzt.
