  • Biographical Presentation

    Dabercusius: Mathias Marcus D., ein Rheinländer von Geburt, geb. um 1508, Schüler von Joh. Rivius, ging mit diesem nach Annaberg, Schneeberg und Freiberg und wurde am letzteren Orte 1537 der erste Conrector. 1538 zum supremus, 1540 zum Rector in Schneeberg und 1543 zum Conrector in Meißen ernannt, nahm er 1553 den Ruf des Herzogs Johann Albrecht I. von Mecklenburg an, wurde der erste Rector der neuen Burg- oder Fürstenschule in Schwerin und starb hier am 17. Febr. 1572. Er wird in den sächsischen Chroniken nebst Joh. Rivius „Wiederhersteller der Wissenschaften in den Meißnischen Landen“ genannt. — Die wenig bekannten Schriften des D. sind folgende: „Quaestionum de grammatica latina sive de analogia libri quatuor“, I. u. II. Rost. 1569, III. u. IV. herausg. von Bernh. Hederich, Rost. 1577 (?). — „Quaestionum de grammatica graeca libri duo“, Rost. 1577 (herausg. von Hederich). — „Agapeti ad Justinianum imperatorem de officio regis praecepta“, Manuscript im Großh. Archiv zu Schwerin.
