  • Biographical Presentation

    Willaerts: Cornelis W., der zweite Sohn Adam's, Landschaftsmaler, und wahrscheinlich Schüler seines Vaters, wurde im J. 1622 als Meister in die Utrechter Malergilde aufgenommen. Er starb vor dem Jahre 1675. Von seinen Landschaften, die an diejenigen Poelenburg's lebhaft erinnern und kleine italienische Motive mit badenden Hirten oder Nymphen behandeln, ist nur ein bezeichnetes Bild genauer bekannt: „Bacchus und Ariadne“, während ein „Perseus und Andromeda“ darstellendes ähnliches Gemälde ihm zugeschrieben wird. Beide befinden sich im Besitz des Herrn P. v. Semenoff in St. Petersburg. Andere kamen im Kunsthandel vor, ihr gegenwärtiger Aufenthaltsort ist aber nicht mehr nachzuweisen.
