Biographical Presentation
Wecker: Johann Jacob W., Mediciner und Philosoph, war geboren 1528 zu Basel, studirte daselbst namentlich Medicin, wurde aber 1557 Professor der Dialektik ebenda und trieb zugleich medicinische Praxis. 1566 ging er als Stadtphysikus nach Colmar, wo er 1586 starb. Er verfaßte eine philosophische Schrift: „Organum logicum ex Aristotele potissimum aliisque variis auctoribus collectum in tabularum formam redactum ac methodice digestum“ (Basel 1521), die also nichts Selbständiges bietet, und einige ebenso wenig Eigenes bringende aber doch viel gebrauchte und deshalb öfter aufgelegte medicinische: „Practica medicinae generalis VII libris explicata“ (Basel 1585); „Syntaxis medica ex selectioribus Graecis, Latinis et Arabicis medicis collata“ (Basel 1576); „Antidotarium generale et speciale ex optimorum autorum tam veterum quam recentiorum scriptis fideliter et methodice congestum“ (Basel 1586); „De secretis II. XVII ex variis auctoribus collecti“, noch 1750 erschienen.
