  • Biographical Presentation

    Ursinus: Leonhard U., eigentlich Beer geheißen, nach der Sitte seiner Zeit latinisirt, war ein gelehrter und besonders in der Botanik kundiger Arzt. Geboren am 21. Januar 1618 zu Nürnberg und hier am 2. Februar 1664 gestorben, hat er von 1652— 1656 die Professur der Botanik in Leipzig und darauf bis zu seinem Lebensende den Lehrstuhl der Physiologie in Leipzig bekleidet. Er stand bei den Zeitgenossen im Ruf großer Gelehrsamkeit und hat auch einige schriftstellerische Arbeiten in Gestalt von Dissertationen und akademischen Gelegenheitsreden producirt. Uebrigens war er auch Mitglied der K. K. Leopoldino-Carolinischen Akademie der Naturforscher.
