  • Biographical Presentation

    Chemnitz: Johann Friedrich (v.) Ch., ein Sohn des Rostocker Professors Dr. Martin Ch. d. J., wurde zu Stettin am 17. Juni 1611 geboren und studirte in Rostock und Frankfurt. Nach einer Reise durch Holland und England und mehrjährigem Aufenthalt in Frankreich lebte er seit 1639 in Schleswig und seit 1648 als Secretär der Herzogin Magdalena Sibylla von Holstein-Gottorp in Nieköping. Als diese im Jahre 1654 sich mit dem Herzog Gustav Adolf von Mecklenburg-Güstrow vermählte, wurde er zum Justiz-Canzlei-Secretär und Archivar in Güstrow ernannt und 1667 zum Protonotar und Secretär beim Land- und Hofgericht in Parchim, wo er am 11. December 1686 starb. — Er verfaßte ein mecklenburgisches „Chronicon“, welches sich ungedruckt im großherzoglichen Archiv zu Schwerin befindet. Gedruckt sind hieraus: „Genealogia ducum Megapolitanorum etc.“ in v. Westfalen, „Monum. ined. II.“ p. 1615 ss. und verschiedene andere Auszüge bei Gerdes, „Sammlung ungedruckter Schriften“ etc., Wismar, bei Pötker, „Urkunden-Sammlung“ und bei Ungnaden, „Amoenit.“. — Für die mecklenburgische Landesgeschichte ist er außerdem durch die von ihm in Regesten extrahirten zahlreichen Urkunden wichtig geworden.
