    Schwann: Peter Theodor S., katholischer Theologe, geb. zu Neuß am 29. März 1804, † in dem Krankenhause des Klosters Marienthal bei Henry-Chapelle in Belgien am 3. Mai 1881. Er war ein älterer Bruder des berühmten Physiologen Theodor S. Nachdem er die Gymnasialstudien an der Ecole secondaire zu Neuß und am Marzellen-Gymnasium zu Köln absolvirt hatte, studirte er Philosophie und Theologie zu Bonn. Am 27. September 1827 wurde er Priester und bald darauf Religionslehrer am Marzellen-Gymnasium zu Köln. 1833 erwarb er sich die theologische Doctorwürde in München und wurde an das Lyceum zu Braunsberg berufen, wo er anfangs Professor der Philosophie, seit 1839 der Dogmatik und Moral war. Eine Berufung nach Breslau lehnte er 1841 ab. Den Winter 1842—43 brachte er in Rom zu. Wegen Kränklichkeit (starker Harthörigkeit) legte er 1850 sein Amt nieder. Der Bischof von Ermland ernannte ihn (1857) zum Ehrendomherrn. Er lebte seit 1850 bei seinen Verwandten in Köln. Geschrieben hat er nur eine Abhandlung „Ueber das unfehlbare Lehramt als dritte Erkenntnißquelle des Christenthums“, 1833, und Proemia zu sechs Braunsberger Lectionskatalogen.
