  • Biographical Presentation

    Calaminus: M. Petrus C., des vorigen Vetter und gleichfalls dem Freundeskreise Krato's angehörend, geboren 1556, 25. November 1598, hatte in Heidelberg unter Zacharias Ursinus seine Studien gemacht. Nach seiner Heimkunft von der Akademie übernahm er 1578 die Erziehung der Kinder Andreas Dudith's, ging 1580 als Rector nach Neurode in der Grafschaft Glatz und wurde 1583 nach Stoltz im Fürstenthum Münsterberg als Pfarrer berufen. Dort verlebte er in freundschaftlichem Verkehr mit seinem Lehnsherrn Sigismund v. Burghaus mehrere glückliche Jahre. Die in Sachsen unter Kurfürst Christian zum Siege gelangte philippistische Partei berief den bescheidenen Gelehrten zum Professor der Theologie und Prediger an der Schloßkirche in Wittenberg, zu welchem Behufe er 1590 am 18. September als Licenciat disputirte. Der Tod des Kurfürsten zersprengte 1591 die Wittenberger theologische Facultät; C. fand in Heidelberg eine Lehrkanzel, von welcher er in der Blüthe seiner Mannesjahre durch den Tod abgerufen wurde.
