  • Biographical Presentation

    Rosenthal: Johannes R., geb. zu Gr. Sömmern am 6. Juni 1615, 1646 Archidiaconus zu Schmölln im Altenburgischen, † daselbst am 8. Juli 1690. Sein Lied: „Ach was ist doch unser Leben?“ ging in die Coburgischen Gesangbücher über und verbreitete sich von da aus. Knapp giebt es in seinem Liederschatz in einer Ueberarbeitung anfangend: „Was ist unsre Lebenszeit? nichts als Noth und Eitelkeit.“ Er gab außerdem „Flores sacri“, Predigtentwürfe und „Diaconia christiana“ 1659, 24 assionspredigten heraus.
