Biographical Presentation
Bidermann: Johann Jakob B. (Biedermann), Maler, geb. zu Winterthur 1762, † zu Constanz 1828, studirte erst in Dresden unter dem Porträtmaler A. Graff, wandte sich aber bald der Landschaftsmalerei in Oel- und Wasserfarben zu. Am bekanntesten machte er sich durch seine in Aberli's Manier geätzten und colorirten Prospecte aus der Schweiz, die ihrer Zeit großen Beifall fanden, obwol ihr wirklicher Kunstwerth nicht über das Mittelmäßige hinaus kommt. B. verstand sich auch sehr gut auf die Thierdarstellung und hat verschiedene Thierstudien radirt.
