Biographical Presentation
Prätorius: Andreas P., lutherischer Theologe, geb. um 1550 in Torgau, studirte in Jena bis 1573, ging alsdann nach Frankfurt a. O., wo er am 15. Mai 1576 zum Doctor der heil. Schrift promovirt ward und sich mit des Andr. Musculus Tochter Dorothea vermählte. Um dieselbe Zeit war er auch vom Kurfürsten Joachim II. nach Berlin als dessen Hofprediger berufen worden, doch kehrte er nach dem Tode seines Schwiegervaters 1581 nach Frankfurt zurück, um in dessen Functionen als Professor und Pfarrer einzutreten. 1584 gab er einen Band Predigten unter dem Titel „Brabeion“, d. i. „Ehrendanck oder aller Edelstes Kleinoth“ heraus (Frankfurt in 4°, zweite Ausgabe Wolfenb., 1608, 8°) und starb am 20. December 1586. Seine Wittwe heirathete später den Professor der Theologie Joach. Garcäus in Frankfurt (A. D. B. VIII, 368), welcher 1633 als Oberpfarrer in Brandenburg a. d. Havel starb.
Sein Sohn. →Andreas P., ward 1602 vom Freiherrn Heinrich Anselm von Promnitz zum Prediger in Sorau, dann 1604 zum Pfarrer in Dobrilugk (Kreis Luckau in der Nieder-Lausitz) erwählt. Er gab mehrere Bände Auszüge aus Luthers Schriften, als „Prodomus Lutheri“, „Lutherus redivivus“ u. s. w. heraus.
