Biographical Presentation
Wichmannshausen: Johann Christoph W., geboren am 3. October 1663 zu Ilsenburg a. H., studirte seit 1683 in Leipzig classische und orientalische Philologie. Zum Magister der Philosophie promovirt machte er von 1688 bis 1692 verschiedene Reisen, ward 1699 Professor der morgenländischen Sprachen zu Wittenberg, zugleich mit der Verwaltung der Universitätsbibliothek seit 1712 betraut. Er starb am 17. Januar 1727. — Seine zahlreichen jetzt völlig werthlosen in lateinischer Sprache geschriebenen Schriften und Abhandlungen, die meist die hebräische Archäologie betreffen, findet man bei Jöcher Bd. 4, Sp. 1939 f. aufgeführt.
