Biographical Presentation
Merckel: Martin M., geb. im J. 1640 zu Schmalkalden, studirte erst Theologie und dann Medicin und lebte als Arzt in seiner Vaterstadt, wo er auch am 4. Januar 1705 starb. Im Schmalkaldischen Gesangbuch von 1717 sind drei Lieder von ihm, unter welchen das Lied: „Hinweg aus meinen Sinnen“ das bekannteste ist.
