  • Biographical Presentation

    Massow: Hans Jürgen Detlaff von M., preußischer General-Lieutenant und General-Kriegscommissar, Sohn des Valentin von M. auf Waldow in Hinterpommern, 1685 geb., stand 1715 als Kapitain bei König Friedrich Wilhelm's 1. Riesengarde in Potsdam und wurde von diesem 1718 bei der Ausarbeitung seines Exerzierreglements für die Infanterie gebraucht. Der sparsame König schätzte ihn vor Allem wegen seiner Brauchbarkeit in Oekonomiesachen und ließ ihn das Montirungswesen besorgen. Friedrich der Große benutzte seine Dienste zu dem gleichen Zweck und war so zufrieden mit ihm, daß er ihm im Jahre 1750 12,000 Thaler schenkte. Er starb am 24. Juli 1761 zu Berlin.
