Biographical Presentation
Brinckmann: Karl Heinrich Ludwig B., geb. zu Hamburg im J. 1809, wirkte dort längere Zeit als Advocat und habilitirte sich dann 1846 an der Heidelberger Universität als Docent des Handels-, Wechsel- und Seerechts. Auch seine schriftstellerische Thätigkeit war hauptsächlich dem Handelsrecht zugewendet. Im J. 1847 erschien der erste Theil seiner Monographie „Das Gewohnheitsrecht im gemeinen Civilrechte und Civilprocesse und die Handelsusancen“; besonders tüchtig ist sein, nach seinem schon 1855 erfolgten Tode von Endemann vollendetes, „Lehrbuch des Handelsrechts“ (2 Theile, 1853—60). Kleinere Aufsätze von ihm finden sich namentlich in der von ihm mitbegründeten kritischen Zeitschrift für die gesammte Rechtswissenschaft (Heidelberg 1853 ff.).
