  • Biographical Presentation

    B. war von 1608 an als Bürger in Ulm ansässig. Er wird als Rotschmied, Stadtrotgießer oder (meistens) als Stück- und Glockengießer bezeichnet. Zuletzt war er Zunftmeister der Schmiedezunft. Weyermann zählt von seiner Hand auf: 11 Glocken, 9 Kanonen, 6 Mörser, 26 Stückbüchsen und Pöller bis 373 Pfund. Von ihm ist auch das Epitaph des Mathias Altersheimer († 1611) und seiner Frau († 1630) mit Wappen in Bronze in der Stadtkirche zu Geislingen. Auf Grund geistreicher Berechnungen von →Johannes Kepler goß B. 1627 einen für das Maß- und Gewichtssystem der freien Reichsstadt Ulm maßgebenden Bronzekessel (Museum Ulm).
