Biographical Presentation
Krüger: Johann Gottlob K., wurde zu Halle am 15. Juni 1715 geboren, studirte daselbst Medicin, Naturwissenschaften und Mathematik. Im Alter von 19 Jahren begann er 1734 philosophische Vorlesungen an der dortigen Universität zu halten, wurde 1737 Magister und, nachdem er seiner geschwächten Gesundheit wegen längere Zeit in Schlesien verweilt hatte, 1742 Doctor der Medicin, dann im folgenden Jahre Professor. Im J. 1751 wurde er als Professor der Philosophie und Medicin nach Helmstädt berufen. K. starb zu Braunschweig am 6. October 1759. Ein Verzeichniß seiner zahlreichen Schriften findet sich in Meusel's Lexikon der vom J. 1750—1800 verstorbenen Schriftsteller. Unter ihnen sind besonders hervorzuheben: „Naturlehre“, 3 Bde., Halle 1740 bis 1749 und „Experimentalseelenlehre“, Halle 1756, in welcher er das bis dahin wenig berücksichtigte Seelenleben der Thiere eingehend behandelt und durch zahlreiche Beobachtungen nachzuweisen sucht, daß die Thiere allerdings Schlüsse ziehen können, aber weder Vernunft noch Verstand besitzen.
