    B., Schüler Ferdinand Schlotterbecks, am paläontologischen Institut der Universität München tätig, war der letzte große Zeichner paläontologischer Objekte und geologischer Profile. Da die Abbildung von Fossilien für die Paläontologie oft wichtiger ist als eine sehr genaue Beschreibung, kann des Nichtakademikers (Kunstgewerbeschüler) Leistung, in Deutschland wie im Ausland hoch geschätzt, der Arbeit des wissenschaftlichen Deskriptors gleichgestellt werden. Sie ist bezeichnend für das Zeitalter der lithographischen Reproduktion in der deskriptiven Naturwissenschaft, das vom Lichtbild abgelöst, aber keineswegs erreicht wurde.
