  • Biographical Presentation

    K. übernahm 1560 die Druckerei, firmierte aber noch 1562 „Ambrosii Kerckeners seligen Erven“. Mit ihm nahmen Druckerei und Verlag einen merklichen Aufschwung. Er hielt sich weiter an die lutherische Tradition Magdeburgs und wurde einer der wichtigsten Bibeldrucker Norddeutschlands, vor allem durch die Verbreitung der Bibel und ihrer Teile sowie des lutherischen Schrifttums in niederdeutscher Sprache (77 Titel). Als einer seiner Hauptverlagsunternehmungen erschien 1584 erstmals das dann weitverbreitete Magdeburgische Gesangbuch.
