Biographical Presentation
Beck: Karl Joseph B., 27. Juni 1794 in Gengenbach im Badenschen geboren, wurde 1821 Professor der Augenheilhunde, † 15. Januar 1839 in Freiburg. Er schrieb ein für seine Zeit ausgezeichnetes „Handbuch der Augenheilkunde“, welches sich nicht allein durch exacte Compilation alles in dieser Wissenschaft Vorhandenen, sondern durch originelle Ansichten auszeichnet. Weitere Nachrichten und ein Verzeichniß seiner Schriften gibt (nach Sachs' Medicin. Almanach, 1840) der N. Nekrol. XVII (1839) 575 f.
