  • Biographical Presentation

    B. nahm 1433 an den Friedensverhandlungen des Deutschen Ordens mit Polen teil, war 1440 Mitbegründer des „Preußischen Bundes“ und seit 1442 Vogt im Bistum Pomesanien. In den 50er Jahren beim Abfall der Stände von der Ordensherrschaft hatte er ein enges Verhältnis zu seinem Bruder Hans. Trotz Mißerfolgen beim Angriff auf die Marienburg wurde Stibor 1459 als Statthalter (nicht Gubernator!) Nachfolger seines Bruders. Wegen innenpolitischer Schwierigkeiten trug er sich mehrfach mit Rücktrittsgedanken. 1472 wurde er Woiwode von Marienburg mit dem Amtssitz in Stuhm.
