    Eckhard: Christian Heinrich E., Rechtsgelehrter, ein Sohn des Pädagogen Tobias E., geb. im Juni 1716 zu Quedlinburg, † 20. Decbr. 1751 in Jena. Er bezog 1734 die Universität Jena, um die Rechte zu studiren, widmete sich jedoch auch historischen und philologischen Studien, wurde 1738 Doctor der Rechte und erhielt 1743 die ordentliche Professur der Beredsamkeit, 1750 zugleich eine außerordentliche Professur der Rechte. Von seinen Schriften ist das Lehrbuch der juristischen Hermeneutik: „Hermeneuticae iuris libri II“, 1750, 2. Ausgabe von C. F. Walch 1779, neue Ausgabe von C. W. Walch 1802, noch jetzt schätzenswerth. Durch seine „Introductio in rem diplomaticam, praecipue Germanicam“, 1742, 2. Ausgabe von Joh. Chr. Blasche 1753, führte er die Diplomatik in den Universitätsunterricht ein.
