  • Biographical Presentation

    Goltz (gewöhnlich Golz): Joachim Rüdiger, Freiherr v. d. G., der erste kurfürstlich sächsische Feldmarschall, diente, dem Gebrauche der Zeit folgend, nach|und nach in Frankreich, Oesterreich, Brandenburg und Dänemark. Bei der Verstärkung der sächsischen Armee trat er am 29. Decbr. 1681 als Feldmarschall in diese über. Unter Kurfürst Johann Georg III. commandirte er die sächsischen Truppen während des Entsatzes von Wien, zog sich jedoch schon am 1. Octbr. 1683 mit einer Pension von jährlich 4000 Thlrn. auf seine Güter in Brandenburg zurück. wo er am 26. Juni 1688 starb.
