  • Biographical Presentation

    Der Kanzler →Albert von B. um 1300 ist wohl identisch mit dem 1310 verstorbenen Bürgermeister gleichen Namens. 1294 ließ er einen Rechtskodex zum amtlichen Gebrauch zusammenstellen, 1299 eine Redaktion der seerechtlichen Bestimmungen für die Flandernfahrt, beide in niederdeutscher Sprache. Von großem Quellenwert ist sein 1298 angelegtes Register (Copia) der städtischen Urkunden, das auch die älteste niederdeutsche Chronik Lübecks enthält. - Der älteste bekannte lübische Syndikus Magister Wilhelm von B. vertrat nach seinem Studium in Bologna 1310-16 die Stadt in ihren Prozessen bei der Kurie. Ratsherr Arnold, Sohn des Albert, starb 1350 in Vermögensverfall. Der 1560 verstorbene Lübecker Bürgermeister Nicolaus B., 1532 Flottenführer und oft als geschickter Unterhändler verwandt, gehört einer anderen, Lüneburger Familie an.
