Biographical Presentation
Nach Mitteilung von Joachim von Sandrart genoß G. seine Ausbildung in Italien, ehe er 1660 nach Nürnberg kam, wo er mit Jakob von Sandrart die 1662 gegründete Akademie leitete. Von Markgraf Christian Ernst nach Bayreuth berufen, vollendete er dort die Kapelle im Alten Schloß und war bei dessen Erweiterungsbauten tätig. Für den Marktplatz entwarf er 1676 den von Georg Wieshack ausgeführten Herkulesbrunnen (Original jetzt im Park am Festspielhügel). Außerdem schuf er für das markgräfliche Theater Bühnendekorationen. 1684 übersiedelte er nach Hildburghausen, wo er in den folgenden Jahren das um einen Ehrenhof gruppierte Schloß und die Hofkirche nach eigener Planung erbaute.
