    Die Familie ist seit Anfang des 16. Jahrhunderts in Oberfranken und Ostthüringen nachweisbar, hier brachte sie zahlreiche Juristen und Theologen hervor, unter anderem →Jakob (1598–1657), Dr. theol., Stiftsprediger und Konsistorialrat zu Altenburg, dessen Sohn →Heinrich (1628–66), Dr. theol., Superintendent zu Orlamünde (Schwager von G. W. Leibniz), →Christoph Heinrich (1677–1732), gothaischer Kammer- und Bergrat (s. ADB VII), Johann Friedrich von F. (Reichsadel 1738, 1690-1770), reußischer Kanzler und Konsistorialpräsident, und seine Söhne →Johann Friedrich (1728–90), reußischer Hof-, Justiz- und Konsistorialrat, und →Christian Friedrich (1729–1806), reußischer Regierungsrat, ferner →Christian Heinrich (1696–1741), Professor der Rechte in Leipzig, Herausgeber der seinerzeit viel benutzten Ausgaben des Corpus iuris civilis (Altenburg und Leipzig 1721) und des Corpus iuris canonici (ebenda 1728) (s.
