    Brunquell: Johann Salomo B. (Brunnquell), Rechtshistoriker, geb. 22. Mai 1693 zu Quedlinburg, wo sein Vater Rector am Gymnasium war, in Göttingen 21. Mai 1735. Er studirte seit 1712 in Jena und Leipzig und kehrte 1716 nach Quedlinburg zurück, um sich der Advocatur zu widmen. 1717 aber ging er als Hofmeister eines braunschweigischen Edelmanns (Heinr. Kasp. v. Uslar) wieder nach Jena, wurde daselbst 1720 Doctor der Rechte und Privatdocent, 1723 ordentlicher Advocat bei dem Hofgericht, 1728 außerordentlicher Professor der Rechte, 1730 ordentlicher Professor der Institutionen und bald darauf der Pandecten, sowie Assessor beim Schöffenstuhl und Hofgericht, 1733 Hofrath. 1735 wurde er als Professor des canonischen Rechts und Ordinarius der Juristenfacultät mit dem Titel Hofrath nach Göttingen berufen, wo er jedoch schon wenige Monate nach seiner Ankunft starb. Seine Hauptschrift: „Historia iuris Romano-Germanici“, erschien zuerst in Jena 1727, vermehrt Amsterdam 1730 und öfter, zuletzt Amsterdam und Leyden 1751. Nach seinem Tode wurden seine kleinen Schriften gesammelt: „Opuscula ad historiam et iurisprudentiam spectantia, collegit atque edidit Henr. Jo. Otto Koenig.“ 1774. 2 Bde. — Haubold, Institutiones iuris Romani litterariae I, 167 s., mit der dort angeführten Litteratur. Günther, Lebensskizzen der Professoren der Universität Jena S. 67.
