  • Biographical Presentation

    Im Kloster Gorze erzogen, wurde Adalbero 984 Bischof von Verdun, am 16.10.984 zum Bischof von Metz gewählt und am 28. 12. von Erzbischof Ekbert von Trier geweiht. Er war für die lothringische Reform tätig (Neuaufbau der zerstörten Symphoriansabtei in Metz, Gründung der Benediktinerinnenabtei St. Marien, 995, und zweier weiterer Nonnenklöster in Epinal und Neumünster). Adalbero unterstützte Heinrich II. auf dem Konzil zu Mainz 1004 und Aachen 1005 bei seinem Vorgehen gegen die Verwandtenehen, wobei er den anwesenden Herzog Konrad von Kärnten namhaft machte. Er übersandte dem Bischof von Halberstadt die Reliquien des heiligen Stephan und der heiligen Glodesindis.
