Kuen, Franz Anton Kuen, Franz Martin

    Die Familie ist seit dem 14. Jh. in Weißenhorn ansässig. Sie erlangt ihre Bedeutung am Ende des 17. Jh. mit Kirchenmalern des Spätbarock und erlischt Ende 18. Jh. – Johann Jakob (* 1681) trat als erster als Kirchenmaler hervor. Der Bruder →Johann Baptist (* 1686) war seit 1713 als Maler in Augsburg ansässig. Die Brüder malten 1707 zusammen die Kirchendecke in Illerbach b. Leutkirch mit Passionsbildern aus, 1722 St. Leonhard in Weißenhorn. Joh. Baptist hielt sich vor 1713 längere Zeit in Österreich und Böhmen auf. Söhne von Joh. Jakob sind →Franz Joseph (1709-–65), der 1754 unter dem Namen Michael III. Propst des Augustiner-Chorherrenstiftes Wengen in Ulm wurde (s. ADB 17), →Johann Michael (Pater Herrmann, 1710–76), Lehrer am Gymnasium in Roggenburg (irrtümlich hat man auch ihn als Maler bezeichnet) und Franz Martin (s. unten).
