  • Biographical Presentation

    S. kam 1867 als Kaufmann nach Bremen. Hier eröffnete er 1869, zunächst mit Johann Friedrich August Haarstick, einen Großhandel, den er seit 1874 unter eigenem Namen führte. Seit 1879 firmierte das Unternehmen als „Scipio & Banneitz“. Mit Andreas Georg Emil Banneitz betrieb S. ein Agentur- und Kommissionsgeschäft mit Hülsenfrüchten und Getreideerzeugnissen, besonders mit dem aus England importierten Mondamin (Stärkemehl aus Mais). Seit 1888 war S. Alleininhaber, 1899–1901 wurde Johann Hermann Heinrich Ellinghausen als Teilhaber aufgenommen. Seit 1903 firmierte das Unternehmen unter der Beteiligung von Max Theodor Hassenkamp als „Scipio & Hassenkamp GmbH“. 1909 zog sich S. aus dem Unternehmen zurück. Die Firma „Scipio & Hassenkamp“ wurde im Dez. 1919 aufgelöst.
