Biographical Presentation
Aquila: Aegidius A. (auch Adler), hervorragender Buchdrucker in Wien, geborener Niederländer, der in Wien in den J. 1549—1552 thätig war, in welch' letzterem Jahre er starb. Er arbeitete eine Zeit lang mit dem reisenden Drucker Johannes Carbo (Hanns Khol) zusammen, den er aber, später allein, durch die Zahl und typographische Schönheit seiner Ausgaben übertraf; hervorragend namentlich war er in einer ihm eigenthümlichen großen Cursivschrift und einer vortrefflichen hebräischen Type.
