    Bellmann: Karl Gottfried B., Hof-Instrumentenmacher zu Dresden, tüchtiger Clavierbauer, auch Fagottist; geb. zu Schellenberg nicht weit von Dresden, 11. Aug. 1760, im Clavier- und Orgelbau Schüler seines Vaters (eines Gehülfen Silbermann's) und nachher des Hof-Orgelmachers Treubluth zu Dresden. Im J. 1783 etablirte sich B. daselbst und gehörte schon 1791 unter die besten Instrumentenmacher seiner Zeit. Neben seinen Flügeln wurden besonders seine Pedale, im Umfange von C 16 Fuß bis c 4 Fuß sehr gerühmt. S. Gerber, N. Lex. Er soll um 1816 gestorben sein.
