    Hermann II., Pfalzgraf zu Aachen, ein Verwandter Kaiser Heinrichs V. nach einer Kaiserurkunde von 1118. Seine Abstammung ist zweifelhaft; ob er ein Verwandter seines Vorgängers, des unglücklichen Pfalzgrafen Heinrich des Unsinnigen gewesen, wie Crollius und Lacomblet wollen, oder aus luxemburgischem Stamme entsprossen ist, wie noch wahrscheinlicher ist, ist bis jetzt noch nicht nachgewiesen worden. H. kommt als Pfalzgraf zuerst urkundlich 1064 vor und stirbt bereits im J. 1085 als eifriger Anhänger Kaiser Heinrichs IV. im Banne. Seine Gemahlin Adelheid, geb. Gräfin v. Löwen, Wittwe Adalberts von Ballenstedt und Mutter des Grafen Otto von Ballenstedt und Siegfrieds von Orlamünde, heirathete den Nachfolger Hermanns. Pfalzgrafen Heinrich von Laach, und starb im J. 1100 auf einer Wallfahrt nach Rom.
