  • Biographical Presentation

    Siber: Johann Caspar S., sächsischer Theolog, war am 29. Februar 1677 als Sohn des Pfarrers Justus S. (s. u.) geboren, besuchte von 1693 an die Fürstenschule zu Meißen, studirte fünf Jahre lang auf der Universität Wittenberg und wurde hier Magister, später auch Doctor der Theologie. Nachdem er seit 1709 dem Superintendenten Elias Rehebold in Oschatz als Hülfsgeistlicher zur Seite gestanden hatte, wurde er 1712 Pfarrer zu Grünhain, 1726 Superintendent in Herzberg, wo er 1746 starb. Er trieb neutestamentliche, patristische und antiquarische Studien. Diesen Gebieten gehören u. a. an seine Dissertationen „De cordis oblatione“, „De concionum circularium antiquitate“ (Herzberg 1727), „De ἀποϰαταστάσεως πάντων seu Restitutione omnium a Juda apostolo commate VI. epist. negata“ (Wittenberg 1731). In dem „Cassiodorus Saxonicus“ feiert er die Verdienste des Consistorialpräsidenten v. Schönberg.
