  • Biographical Presentation

    H. studierte nach Vorbereitung in Stargard und Landsberg a. W. in Erfurt klassische Sprachen und Hebräisch, danach Theologie in Wittenberg bei A. Calov, J. Meißner, A. Quenstedt und besonders bei J. Ch. Kirchmayer und erwarb den Magistergrad. 1670 wurde er Prediger in Pützerlin bei Stargard, 1681 auch zugleich in Stargard, 1683 Prediger und Konrektor in Stargard, 1684 Rektor des Lyzeums in Kolberg, 1692 Propst in Jakobshagen. Für seine Schüler in Kolberg schrieb er sein „Examen theologicum acroamaticum“ (1707, ⁸1763), das letzte der großen Systeme der lutherischen Orthodoxie, das 50 Jahre wirksam blieb infolge der Klarheit des geschlossenen Aufbaus, der irenischen Haltung und der gelegentlichen praktisch-erbaulichen Anwendung, die eine gewisse Einwirkung des beginnenden Pietismus verrät, gegen dessen mystische Tendenzen sich H. aber in seinem „Scrutinium veritatis in mysticorum dogmata“ (1711) abgrenzte. Bei der Lehre von der Heiligen Schrift baute er die Inspirationstheorie aus, ebenso bei der Heilsordnung den locus de illuminatione, schließlich auch die Lehre von der Kirche.
