Biographical Presentation
Ott: Christoph O., geb. zu Freiburg i. B. 1612, gehörte seit seinem 16. Lebensjahre dem Jesuitenorden an und verwaltete zuerst das Lehramt der Humaniora und der Philosophie in den Schulen des Ordens, widmete sich aber später ausschließlich der Seelsorge und dem Predigtamte. Damit in Verbindung stand seine Betheiligung an der confessionellen Controverse: Demonstratio catholicae veritatis (Augsburg 1660, gegen den Pastor Thomas Hopfer); confutatio Tremelliana (Augsburg 1662, gegen den Apostaten Joh. G. Tremellius); Ursachen über Ursachen weßhalb man katholisch soll werden (Augsburg 1664; dagegen der Preßburger Pastor Anton Reifer: „Ursachen ohne Ursachen“ u. s. w.) — Daneben pflegte O. auch das Geschichtsfach: „Historia nova saeculi nostri XVII ferreo-aurei, complectens gesta per Imperium Romano-Germanicum sub Rudolpho II, Matthia I, Ferdinando II et Ferdinando III“ (Innsbruck 1682, als Fortsetzung der Historia Mundi des P. Tursellin), ferner: „Roma gloriosa oder das glorwürdige Rom in seinen 249 Päpsten“ (Innsbruck 1676). „Unvergleichliche Ehrencron u. s. w.“ (Verzeichniß berühmter Convertiten) Dillingen 1686.
